You are looking for how to separate pages from a PDF file or remove pages from a PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article, we\u2019ll be going through how to extract a PDF on Mac and Windows, as well as how to do it using our PDF.Live editor. We\u2019re also going to explain how to delete one page from a PDF, blank pages from a PDF, or multiple pages from a PDF document. Whether you\u2019re seeking to pull one page from a PDF file, extract and remove a page from a PDF, or separate one larger PDF into two or more smaller PDFs, the steps are basically the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>First, Save Your PDF<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Regardless of what you need to do, before we start, you\u2019ll want to make sure that you\u2019ve saved the PDF onto your computer. If you\u2019re viewing the PDF online through a web browser, you\u2019ll need to save it to your computer before you can do anything. To do this, you can select <strong>Print<\/strong> in your browser settings. This will not send the PDF to your printer, but it will download the document to your computer as a PDF. Follow your computer\u2019s prompts to name the PDF and where you\u2019d like to save it. Once you do this, you can edit the PDF as it\u2019s now on your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Extract a PDF Page with PDF.Live<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>PDF.Live allows you to extract, separate, and edit pages of a PDF all in one app. You can import your PDF by dragging the file into<a href=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/edit\"> PDF.Live\u2019s editor<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"264\" src=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image3-1024x264.png\" alt=\"Manage Pages from a PDF in a black dialog box.\" class=\"wp-image-7726\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image3-1024x264.png 1024w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image3-300x77.png 300w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image3-768x198.png 768w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image3.png 1406w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the left side of the PDF editor, you\u2019ll notice an option to <strong>Manage Pages<\/strong> from a PDF. This tool will be what we\u2019ll be working with for extracting, splitting, and separating a page from a PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to extract a page to permanently remove it from the PDF, follow those prompts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Extract PDF pages for other uses<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To extract a page from a PDF and save it in its own file, click <strong>Manage Pages<\/strong> on the left side of the screen. You\u2019ll then be able to adjust all the pages of a PDF in one place.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"497\" src=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image6-1024x497.png\" alt=\"To extract a page from a PDF and save it in its own file, click Manage Pages on the left side of the screen. Click the <strong>Extract<\/strong> button to download the selected page as its own PDF. This will work if you need to extract one or multiple pages from a PDF. They do not need to be consecutive and can be multiple pages. To deselect a page, simply click it again.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"497\" src=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image2-1024x497.png\" alt=\"Click the Extract button to download the selected page as its own PDF.\" class=\"wp-image-7727\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image2-1024x497.png 1024w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image2-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image2-768x373.png 768w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image2-1536x746.png 1536w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image2-1568x761.png 1568w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image2.png 1679w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Delete a Page<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For deleting a page, once again click the <strong>Manage Pages<\/strong> button and then click a page in the list of pages. You will click the <strong>Delete Page <\/strong>button, which will remove that page from your PDF.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"497\" src=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image8-1024x497.png\" alt=\"You will click the Delete Page button, which will remove that page from your PDF.\u00a0\" class=\"wp-image-7729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image8-1024x497.png 1024w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image8-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image8-768x373.png 768w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image8-1536x746.png 1536w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image8-1568x761.png 1568w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image8.png 1652w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This will not be saved until you select <strong>CONFIRM<\/strong> on the bottom right corner of the manage page menu. If you accidentally delete the wrong page, click <strong>Cancel<\/strong> and that page will not be deleted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Separate PDFs on Mac<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple devices come with the Preview App, which allows you to open and edit PDFs on your computer. With preview, you can add, delete, move and copy pages within Preview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Delete PDF pages on a Mac\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To delete a page, open Preview and go to <strong>View > Thumbnails<\/strong> to select the page or pages to delete and use the delete key on your keyboard. You can also go to <strong>Edit > Delete<\/strong>. Be careful! There\u2019s no warning button to confirm that you want to delete the page; once you hit the delete key, the page is gone. You can, however, use the <strong>Undo<\/strong> command or the <strong>Revert Changes<\/strong> option to restore pages that you didn\u2019t intend to delete.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extract one page from a PDF on a Mac\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The easiest way to extract a single page from a PDF is to open Preview and, from the thumbnail view, click and drag the page to your desktop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move pages\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To move pages, go to <strong>View > Thumbnails<\/strong> or <strong>View > Contact Sheet<\/strong>, and then drag the pages to where you\u2019d like them to go in the PDF<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copy pages from one PDF to another\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Similarly to moving pages, go to <strong>View > Thumbnails<\/strong> or <strong>View > Contact Sheet<\/strong> and drag the thumbnail images from one PDF to the other.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Separate PDFs on Windows<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most Windows devices do not have a PDF editor included. However, when you\u2019re using the above steps to obtain your PDF from a browser, you may have noticed that you can print specific pages of a PDF separately. If you see the destination called \u201cMicrosoft Print to PDF,\u201d you can extract specific pages from a PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are other ways to remove pages from PDFs without external software. For example, using your browser of choice, you can open and view a PDF and select <strong>Print<\/strong>. Then, select <strong>Save as PDF<\/strong> and select the pages you want to keep. Then, click <strong>Save<\/strong>. If the page you want to delete is in the middle of the PDF, you may need to download <a href=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/pdf-management\/merge-pdf\">two separate PDFs and then merge them<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also use PDF.Live, which requires no software to be downloaded and installed on your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Extract Pages from a PDF\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To extract pages from a PDF using Microsoft Print to PDF, first open the PDF you want to extract in a browser. You can drag the PDF to your browser to do this, or select <strong>Open With<\/strong> > \u201cyour browser of choice.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then, select the pages you want to extract. You can write \u201c3\u201d if you want to extract page 3, \u201c3-5\u201d if you want to extract pages 3 through 5, or \u201c3,5\u201d if you just want to extract pages 3 and 5.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then, select print and those pages will save on your computer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Extracting and Deleting PDF Pages FAQs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why can\u2019t I delete pages from a PDF?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common reason that you\u2019ll be unable to remove pages or otherwise edit a PDF is if its permissions are set to read-only. Read-only means that the original creator has designated that only they can edit or change the document \u2014 everyone else can only read it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"374\" height=\"303\" src=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image7.png\" alt=\"Read-only means that the original creator has designated that only they can edit or change the document \u2014 everyone else can only read it.\" class=\"wp-image-7730\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image7.png 374w, https:\/\/pdf.live\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image7-300x243.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 374px) 100vw, 374px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re the original owner of the PDF, you will need to edit the permissions of the PDF so that you can now edit it. To do this, find the PDF in your computer\u2019s file explorer and right click it and select <strong>Properties<\/strong>. Then, navigate to the <strong>Security<\/strong> tab. If you\u2019re the original owner of the document, you can change permissions by selecting <strong>Edit<\/strong>. You will see a multitude of options that you can allow or deny other users to access. You might be able to work around the password protection by selecting the <strong>Print<\/strong> option and then <strong>Save as PDF<\/strong> and save only the pages that you want.
